Diecast Model Example

Diecast models are the preferred method for making models for large quantities.  They offer durability, detail and low cost on high runs.  The usual minimum order for a diecast model is 2500 units.  Diecast can range in quality depending on the details desired and the model requirements.

The Bucyrus-Erie 22-B model was produced as a historical model for collectors and enthusiasts.  This model is diecast with a run of 2500 shovel units. Included in the run, were 500 of the same basic machine but with Ruston-Bucyrus logos.  The logos were on the boom and the embossed name plate on the rear of the machine.  Some of the features of this model are:

  • Working individual linked steel tracks
  • Handrails on cabin and boom
  • Operating drums for hoist, crowd and boom
  • Opening trip door
  • Hinged side access panel doors
  • Sliding operator's door and rear engine door
  • Detailed operator's cab
  • Authentic logos and colors

The dimensions for this model are: length 6.75", width 2.35", height 4.3" (172x60x110 mm)

This model was built from partial blue prints and photos of the actual machine.

The following pictures are of the prototype model.  We will be posting photos of the finished unit.  Finished unit will have painted rivets, smaller hinges, correct name plate on boom along with several other changes for
